I have a 14 year old son who is also PDD-NOS we did ABA therapy for 2 years of his life from 3 to 5. People in our house 40 hours a week teaching my son everything.. It really did help alot! Building a repor is very important. In my my sons case I wanted him to have everything he needed to know and then some before kindergarten so that way the only thing he had to worry about when he got in a school setting was being attentive.
